German Chancellor Friedrich Merz had a telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during which the parties discussed the situation in the Gaza Strip and announced that the Palestinian Hamas movement should hand over the remains of the last hostages. Stefan Cornelius, the official representative of the German Cabinet of Ministers, informed the journalists about this.
"Mertz and Netanyahu discussed ways to further stabilize the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
The parties agreed that humanitarian aid should be delivered safely and in sufficient quantity to the residents of Gaza. Hamas should immediately hand over the relics of the last hostages," Cornelius stressed.
On October 9, Israel and Hamas, with the mediation of Egypt, Qatar, the US and Turkey, agreed to implement the first phase of the peace plan presented by US President Donald Trump.
