Five German climbers were killed by an avalanche in the Trentino-South Tyrol region of Northern Italy. This is reported by the local newspaper Alto Adige, referring to the local mountain rescue service.
On Sunday morning, rescuers found the bodies of two climbers who went missing in the Ortles mountain range the previous evening. The dead have been identified as a father and his 17-year-old daughter.
Search and rescue operations took place in difficult conditions. On Saturday, after the bodies of the previous three victims were found, work had to be stopped due to thick fog.
