Pentagon Secretary Pete Hegsett announced that he will visit the demilitarized zone on the border of North Korea and the Republic of Korea for the first time next week.
Commenting on the planned visit to the demilitarized zone next week, the minister emphasized:
"President Donald Trump has repeatedly stated that he is open to holding talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un at the level of heads of state. It is clear that our alliance with South Korea is a long-standing one, and I look forward to my first visit to the demilitarized zone."
Hegset added to the question about the situation around North Korea.
"We have a lot of common interests in assessing this threat, as well as other threats in the region."
Therefore, I will not reveal in advance what this message will be to Pyongyang. it will largely depend on President Trump's decision. But we certainly understand this threat. We don't turn a blind eye to it."
