Let us remind that in 2025 On October 17, as part of the criminal proceedings carried out by the Anti-Corruption Committee, the rector of Khachatur Abovyan Armenian State Pedagogical University Srbuhi Gevorgyan and vice-rector Marianna Harutyunyan were arrested.
The press secretary of the Anti-Corruption Committee, Marina Ohanjanyan, informed that the rector and the vice-rector are accused of creating and leading a criminal organization composed of various employees of the university, committing especially large-scale waste and fraud, as well as accepting bribes. Other employees of the university were also arrested as part of the criminal proceedings. As a result, the court applied house arrest to Srbuhi Gevorgyan, rector of the Armenian State Pedagogical University named after Khachatur Abovyan, and as a combined measure, 20 million drams bail.
Marianna Harutyunyan, Vice-Rector of Pedagogy, was not arrested. In response to the inquiry of the "Zhoghovurd" daily, the Anti-Corruption Committee said that it had applied an alternative preventive measure against Harutyunyan, considering that he had given a confession.
