New details have emerged regarding the murder of "thief in law" Yaponchik

Deprivation of criminal status greatly damaged the career of Ilya Simonia, who was sentenced in absentia to 21 years in prison for organizing the murder of the thief in law Vyacheslav Ivankov (Yaponchik), according to the materials available to RIA Novosti.

According to the materials, in the early 1990s Simonia had a conflict with Ivankov, Yaponchik deprived Makho (Simonia's nickname - ed.) of his criminal status.

"The fact of depriving Simonia of her status greatly damaged her criminal career," the documents state. "Macho (Simonian - ed.) blamed Yaponchik for all his misfortunes", - this follows from the testimony of the witness in the case.

Simonia, as stated in the materials, really wanted to restore his status and often "tried to organize a 'meeting' of his own to resolve this issue, among other things, but he never succeeded."

In mid-January, the Moscow City Court found Ilya Simonia guilty of murder with prior consent or by an organized group "for profit or for hire, as well as in connection with robbery, extortion or banditry." The convict was sentenced in absentia to 21 years of imprisonment in a high-security colony.

According to the investigation, Simonia, a resident of Merdzmoskovyan, who was convicted in April 2009, organized Ivankov's murder in order to redistribute spheres of influence in the criminal community.

For this, he involved Kakha Gazzaev, Jambula Janashia and Murtazi Shadania, as well as Nugzar Papava and Astamur Butba. The villains followed Yaponchik, bought a Dragunov sniper rifle and bullets, a Gazelle car, and mobile phones.

Finding out that Ivankov often visits the "Thai Elephant" restaurant on Khoroshevsky highway in Moscow, they chose a nearby place for shooting. On July 28, according to Simonia's instructions, Gazzaev, Janashia, Shadania, Papava and Butba arrived at the restaurant and followed Ivankov.

In the evening, Butba, who was hiding in the body of the Gazelle, shot Yaponchik when he left the facility. The victim died of his injuries in the hospital on October 9.

The court sentenced Janashia to 15 years of imprisonment in a strict regime colony, and Shadania to 16 years. Gazzaev fully admitted his guilt and the case against him was separated into separate proceedings and he was sentenced to 14 years of imprisonment in a high-security colony.

Butba and Papava, who have the citizenship of Abkhazia and Russia, were arrested in absentia. Simonia is also wanted internationally.
