India will not sign a bilateral trade agreement with the US under haste or pressure, Indian Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said at the Berlin Global Dialogue conference.
"Of course, we are conducting negotiations with the United States, but we do not sign hasty deals, we do not sign deals in short terms or under the threat of arms," he said. According to the minister, "India is committed to the long-term perspective and never makes decisions in haste or under the pressure of the moment."
"We accepted the fact that customs duties were imposed on us. We are looking for ways to solve this problem. We are exploring new markets. We are seeing an increase in demand in the Indian economy. So we have a very durable structure," Goyal said.
"The trade agreement is a long-term perspective, and we must look to the future and achieve the best conditions for the country," he concluded.
