Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced that a terrorist attack took place in front of Skupština (Serbian Parliament) building on Wednesday.
The Vecherne Novosti news portal reported on Wednesday that a man opened fire in front of the Assembly building, one person was injured in front of the Parliament building and taken to hospital, and the attacker, identified by the initials VA, was arrested.
"I apologize for leaving this wonderful gathering. The reason is the terrorist attack that took place in front of the National Assembly of Serbia, and today I will have to focus a little more on other issues," Vucic said during a meeting on the state program to support rural areas.
On Wednesday, a fire broke out in one of the tents of the president's supporters in front of the parliament building. The fire has been extinguished. According to media reports, the cause was a gas cylinder.
