Sijarto will discuss preparations for the Russia-US summit in Budapest with Rubio

Hungary remains ready to do everything necessary to organize a meeting between Russian and US Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump in Budapest and hopes to succeed in the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine.

This was announced by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijártó, who is visiting Washington, noting that he will discuss these issues with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on October 22.

"We want peace to return to Central Europe. We have been representing the cause of peace for the last three and a half years. We are doing everything within our power. We were asked to host this summit. We are ready.

The participants were provided with all the necessary conditions for success. And I have great hope that this summit will take place," the foreign minister said in an interview with CNN, the text of which was distributed by the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Commenting on the speculations about the postponement of the summit, Siyarto reminded that its "date has not yet been decided". "Therefore, I do not understand what is the point of postponing it if the date is not yet decided," he added.
