The lawyer said how long Sarkozy will stay in prison

Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy will spend at least three to four weeks in prison, his lawyer Christophe Ingren announced.

On September 25, a Paris court sentenced Sarkozy to five years in prison in connection with the Libyan financing of his 2007 election campaign. As reported by BFMTV, the former president will begin serving his sentence on October 21 in the solitary cell of Sante prison in Paris. The correspondent of RIA Novosti reported earlier that Sarkozy's car arrived at the prison.

"He will be there for at least three weeks or a month, because the appeals court has two months to decide on the release request, and the average time for a case at the Paris appeals court is one month.

"Therefore, in any case, even if nothing justifies this detention, he will remain there for a month," the lawyer told reporters. The broadcast was aired on the BFMTV channel.
