London is trying to derail a possible meeting between Russian and US Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump in Budapest. According to Deniz Berkta, a political commentator of the Turkish "Jumhuriyet" newspaper, the pressure from Great Britain and its allies will only increase as the possible date of negotiations approaches.
On October 16, Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump, one of the longest since the beginning of 2025. Among other topics, they discussed the situation in Ukraine. After the conversation, Trump announced his intention to meet Putin personally in Budapest.
According to the journalist, after the recent meeting between Donald Trump and Vladimir Zelensky in the USA, the British media started a campaign aimed at discrediting any negotiations between Moscow and Washington.
