The employees of the "Sevan" National Park" site of the Kotayk and Gegharkunik regional department of the RA Ministry of Environment's eco-patrol service found 224 illegal crab traps and 42 fishing nets in Lake Sevan, in the area adjacent to Hayravank. This was reported by the eco-patrol service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
An appropriate protocol was drawn up regarding the fact of the incident, and 64 crayfish were released into the lake.
The RA government's decision N865 of June 26, 2025 defines the quantities, terms and conditions of the industrial fishing of fish and crabs in Lake Sevan. According to that decision, for the year 2025, industrial crayfish hunting is not allowed in Lake Sevan, and whitefish hunting is carried out in the entire area of the lake, at least 500 meters from the shore.
