Bloomberg: The EU has called on Stubb to be invited to the Trump-Putin meeting in Budapest

European leaders are looking forward to the meeting between US and Russian Presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin in Budapest, Bloomberg reports, citing its sources.

Two agency sources said EU leaders must unite to "counter Putin's influence on Trump." Another source suggested that Finnish President Alexander Stubb would be a suitable candidate for the trip to Hungary.

On October 16, Putin and Trump had their eighth phone conversation this year. After a two-and-a-half-hour conversation, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov announced that Moscow and Washington would immediately begin preparations for a new meeting between the two leaders, which could take place in Budapest.

According to Ushakov, the American leader suggested the capital of Hungary, and the Russian president supported that idea.
