India's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has responded to US President Donald Trump's statement that Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured him that India will stop buying Russian oil, The Times of India reports that according to the ministry, when deciding India's import policy, "priority is given to protecting the interests of Indian consumers."
According to the Foreign Ministry spokesperson, stable energy prices and uninterrupted supplies are the two goals of India's energy policy.
"This includes expanding and diversifying our energy sources to match market conditions," said department spokesman Randhir Jaiswal.
