"Mathematical" disagreements. what is expected at the end of the year? "Fact"

"Fact" daily writes:

During the CIS summit held in Dushanbe, Nikol Pashinyan and Russian President Vladimir Putin had a debate about the figures of the Armenian-Russian trade turnover. To Putin's question, how much was the trade turnover between the two countries, Pashinyan answered that in 2025 it was 4 billion dollars, and in 2024 - 9 billion dollars. However, the Russian president did not agree and noted that the real figures are "higher". "Well, it can be," Pashinyan responded.

After that, KPA officials and MPs, without giving each other a turn, tried to show that Pashinyan did not make a mistake, compared comparable numbers, etc. At the same time, a number of experts present a remarkable picture. According to the official data of the Statistical Committee of Armenia, in 2024 the trade turnover between Armenia and Russia amounted to 12 billion 401 million 604.4 thousand dollars. Thus, the year 2024 has become the historical maximum, registering an almost double increase compared to 2023.

At the same time, according to the data of August 2025, the real trade turnover was about 4.5 billion dollars, while in the same period of 2024 it was 9.2 billion dollars. In other words, Pashinyan actually "shortened the year to eight months", confusing the numbers and comparing eight-month indicators instead of annual ones.

Our studies show that by 2025, the Armenian-Russian trade turnover will reach at least 7 billion dollars, which is a significant decrease compared to the previous year. However, Russia continues to be Armenia's main trade partner, accounting for 34.8 percent of our country's total foreign trade.

According to experts, the future dynamics will depend on a number of factors, including regional geopolitical developments, upcoming parliamentary elections and further steps in Armenia's foreign economic policy.
