Penitentiary officers participated in two-day training courses


On October 23 and 24, the head of the "Vardashen" penitentiary institution of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia, colonel of justice Khachik Harutyunyan, the chief psychologist of the social, psychological and legal work department of the Central Service Agency Tsoghik Aleksanyan and the chief specialist of the headquarters, captain of justice Rafael Harutyunyan participated in "Legal Education and Rehabilitation Program Implementation Center" to the training courses organized by SNOC and "Raoul Wallenberg Institute for Human Rights and Humanitarian Law".

The CPS reports that the purpose of the courses is to prepare trainers for the staff of penitentiary institutions, and they will have a continuous nature.

The courses were conducted by Josh Aunstead, an expert of the "Raoul Wallenberg Institute for Human Rights and Humanitarian Law", who presented the participants with the international standards of the penitentiary system, the procedure and features of their application. In particular, reference was made to the international standards of detention conditions, food, hygiene supplies, and medical care for imprisoned persons. Issues related to the code of conduct and professional training of the staff of penitentiary institutions were also discussed. Sergey Ghazinyan, a national expert in the field, was also present at the trainings.
