The European Union is introduced by the New Entry / Exit System (EES), which will start operating in 2025. From October 12, the RA MFA reports.
The aim of the new system is to strengthen the control of the external borders of the Schengen zone, increase the security and simplify the processes for the citizens of non-EU countries.
What should the citizens of the Republic of Armenia know?
- Who referred to?- The new system refers to all citizens who are not the EU or a citizen of the Schengen member state, including the citizens of Armenia.
- What is changing?- At the border checkpoints, the states of the Schengen zone will register every entrance and exit, replacing the practice of laying stamps in the current passport.
- Registered data:
- Personal data (name, surname, citizenship, etc.)
- Data on travel document,
- Date and place of entry and output,
- Biometric data, fingerprint and face photo.
- Validity Control- The system will automatically control whether the entry of a given person is allowed, and whether the rule of short-term stay in the Schengen zone "90 days, every 180 days" is exceeded.
- Where to act?The system will operate at all external border checkpoints, airports, seaports and land border checkpoints.
- How to prepare?Travelers must be prepared for the provision of biometric data (fingerprint, photograph) and a longer period of testing on the border, especially when entering the first time.
