Great Britain found mosquitoes that distribute three types of dangerous viruses

Scientists have published an urgent warning in the UK after the discovery of three dangerous tropical diseases, the Daily Mail reports.

The publication notes that the UK Health Safety Agency (UKHSA) found eggs of Egyptian and tiger mosquitoes.

"These types can transmit diseases such as Dengge fever, Chicunguni and Zika," the publication said.

The UKHSA was first found in the Egyptian mosquito eggs in 2023, and the tiger mosquito eggs, near the service station on the M20 highway, in 2024.

"All the signs show that these mosquito species have not yet been established in the UK," the publication said.

The publication notes that experts have expressed concern about climate change and milder winters in the United Kingdom. There is a danger of spreading these invasive types in the future.

In May, British scientists have discovered the presence of the Western Nile virus in local mosquito populations.
