EU countries plan to impose more strict restrictions on Russia. This was announced by the President of the European Commission (EC) Ursula El der Layen after the informal summit of EU and government leaders in Copenhagen.
"We offer a new approach to sanctions. We no longer adopt a step-by-step approach, but we offer much more strict measures in the fields of energy, financial services and trade, "said Von der Deren.
The head of the European Commission added that this approach is already being used to develop a package of 19th sanctions, which is currently under discussion.
On September 19, Background Der Lajen presented the proposals of the European Commission on the 19th package of anti-Russian sanctions. These are, among other things, include a ban on importing Russian liquefied natural gas to the EU since January 2027, as well as measures against cryptworking and banks.
