France and a number of other EU member states are concerned that the program proposed by the European Commission to use the frozen Russian assets to provide loans to Kiev will increase their public debt, the British Financial Times reports.
"The other capitals of Paris and the other occupied debts are afraid of approving Russia's frozen assets," the publication said.
Earlier, Politico, citing the European Commission's document, said that the European Commission has offered to use frozen Russian assets to provide a loan of 140 billion euros to Ukraine.
According to Financial Times, the program proposed by the European Commission will require the participating countries, including large-scale countries, such as France, sovereign guarantees. According to the anonymous French diplomat who interviewed by the publication, Paris wants to ensure that the program does not become a "burden on the state budgets of countries that are obliged to provide guarantees."
