“We are no longer allies,” said Lebanese Foreign Minister Gibran Basil, head of the Christian Free Democratic Movement.
According to Basil, Hezbollah started the war and made a strategic mistake.
Basil stated that they do not stand in solidarity with Gaza, and that by their actions, Hezbollah has deprived Lebanon of the thesis of self-defense.
Is Lebanon facing a new civil war? Lebanon is a multi-religious country where Shiites make up at least a third of the population, although not everyone is supporters of the Hezbollah movement. Repeatedly it was necessary to focus on the fact that Israel, through its actions, is trying to spark a civil war in Lebanon, thus excluding Hezbollah and its supporters.
Until recently, the Lebanese Civil War (1975-1990) was considered one of the bloodiest local conflicts of the twentieth century. The war claimed the lives of more than 150 thousand Lebanese, turning the country into ruins. Actually, the Israeli leadership is now seeking exactly this.
Unfortunately, there are forces in Lebanon advocating a radical position that could ultimately lead to irreparable consequences. The congress of the Lebanese Forces party, led by an active opponent of Hezbollah Samir Jaajaa, at which the leader of the LS called for the implementation of all UN resolutions on Lebanon. The head of the Kataib party, member of parliament, Maronite Christian Sami Gemayel holds a similar opinion; he has repeatedly stated that Hezbollah is destroying Lebanon.
