The man opened fire in Dallas, killing one man and insulted four more. This was announced by the head of the local police.
He later committed suicide. The body was found on the roof of a neighboring building.
The incident took place at the US Immigration and Customs Service (Ice) regional office, in the north-west of Dallas.
According to the FBI leader, the shooter had ideological motives. There are no casualties among law enforcement officers.
The incident commented on US Vice President Jay Di Vens.
"The ongoing attacks on law enforcement, especially ICE, must be stopped. I pray for all the victims of this attack and their families, "Di Vens wrote.
