Barish Boyun, the leader of the Turkish criminal group, was arrested in Italy

Barish Boyun, the leader of the Turkish organized criminal group, was arrested in Italy, near Rome. He is considered one of the most wanted criminals in his homeland, in 2022. The Istanbul Prosecutor's Office issued an international arrest warrant for the criminal. It is noteworthy that Boyun, who is accused of organizing an armed gang, participating in terrorism, murder and selling weapons, was previously arrested in Italy. But in 2023 the Italian courts rejected Turkey's request for extradition, explaining the refusal by the fact that, being a Kurd, Boyun could be tortured in his homeland. As La Repubblica newspaper wrote, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni received a personal request from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to extradite the criminal, and Turkish special services and Interpol representatives could participate in his arrest.
18 members of a Turkish criminal group were arrested during a large-scale police operation that took place in various parts of Italy, including the island of Sicily. As Radio-1 noted, Boyun was arrested at his house in Viterbo (60 kilometers from Rome).
