A Cuban national has been arrested on charges of drug trafficking


On October 20, 2024, at around 08:00, the patrols of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs Police patrol service of Yerevan city, while conducting their service on Shengavit street of Shengavit administrative district, near the Yerevan lake, noticed two young men with suspicious behavior.

The latter were transferred to the Shenqshvit Police Department on the direct suspicion of acquiring, keeping, using and selling illegal drugs. It turned out that the mentioned persons are citizens of the Republic of Cuba.

During a personal search of one of them, one folding knife was found, and the other had 34 packages of white crystalline mass, 46.44 grams in weight, wrapped with different colored adhesive tapes, in connection with which the latter stated that what was found was "Crystal" type of drug. Regarding the report, RA RA criminal proceedings were initiated in the investigation department of Shengavit administrative district of the Investigative Committee under Article 334, Part 1, Article 393, Part 3, Clause 2 of the RA Criminal Code. and as for the cold case, criminal investigations, the execution of which was assigned to the experts of the "Criminal Expert Center of the Republic of Armenia" POAC.

According to the examination of the whitish powder-like mass taken from separate packages, it was found to be "a-PVP" drug. According to the factual data obtained by the examination, one of the mentioned persons purchased the drug through the Telegram website from an unknown person, for which he made the payment through the payment terminal. a decision was made to initiate a public criminal prosecution against the person in accordance with Article 393, Part 3, Clause 2 of the RA Criminal Code and a charge was presented.

A petition was submitted to the court to choose his detention as a preventive measure, which was granted. The investigation is ongoing. Measures are being taken to identify the source of drug acquisition, as well as other possible cases of sale. Notice: A person accused of a crime is considered innocent until his guilt is proven by a legally binding court verdict in accordance with the procedure established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code.
