The United States will continue to provide assistance to Africa, including medical care, but intends to invest more in the Western Hemisphere and Asia-Pacific region. The anonymous high-ranking official of the State Department told Semafor.

The State Department spokesman added that the amount of investments in specific countries will depend on the "frequency and welfare indicators", as well as "strategic position of the countries".
