State Department. US Follows the situation of underwater cables damaged in the Red Sea

The United States is "closely following" the situation after the damage to the underwater fiber optic cables passing through the bottom of the Red Sea, the State Department spokesman told Emirati.

The official added that Washington is well aware of the importance of underwater cables for trade, communication and security around the world.

According to The National, the Internet failures following the damage to the cables in the Red Sea were partially eliminated on September 7 and 8. However, in some parts of the Middle East, the internet speed can remain too low for another six weeks due to the difficulties of restoration of underwater connection.

The publication claims that a possible sabotage against the underwater cables could be carried out by the rebels of the "Analyze Allah" movement against the underwater cables.
