The EU must renounce Russian oil and gas instead of using liquefied natural gas, gasoline and other fossil fuel, and US Department of Energy Chris Wright has announced the FINANCIAL TIMES.
According to Wright, it will be economically beneficial for Europe. The Minister added that if Europe will stop buying Russian fuel, it will reduce the funding of the Russian military vehicle, approaching the end of the war.
In 2024, Russian gas was up to 14% of the import of EU fossil fuel. In February 2022, at the beginning of the large-scale invasion, it made about 2/5 of all supplies.
Brussels intends to renounce Russian oil and gas in 2028, but Hungary and Slovakia, who receive Russian gas, oppose the program.
