The urgency of reforming the international financial system has come to the fore today, Chinese President Xi Jinping said during the extended BRICS summit in Kazan.

"In the current realities, there is an urgent need to reform the international financial architecture," the Chinese leader said.

Xi Jinping emphasized that the BRICS countries "must play a leading role" in promoting the international financial system to better reflect changes in the global economic structure.
