BRICS countries have agreed on the criteria for new members of the association, said Yuri Ushakov, assistant to the Russian president.

"The association has agreed on important criteria for a partner state, and the further expansion of BRICS will pass through this filter," the official said.

He clarified that the list of 13 states has already been agreed upon. It was decided not to publish their names for now, as the degree of readiness for full membership in BRICS or any other form of joining should be discussed with them.

Today BRICS members are Russia, China, India, Brazil, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, UAE and Saudi Arabia.
