Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has welcomed the intention to recognize Palestine as a state of Palestine during a telephone conversation with French President Emanuel McCron, according to Turkish leader's office.
Makron announced on Thursday that France would officially recognize the state of Palestine in September in the UN General Assembly.
"During a telephone conversation on Sunday, Erdogan congratulated Makron on his decision to recognize Palestine as a state," the office said in a statement.
The presidents also discussed the situation in the Gaza Strip, and Erdogan stressed that the humanitarian situation has deteriorated there, so the international community should find the solution of the problem as soon as possible.
