The eruption of a volcano took place on the Raykeshesh Peninsula of Iceland, according to the country's meteorological service.

"There has been an eruption in the crateral in the Sundhnukigar crater," the statement posted on the website of the Icelandic Meteorological Service said.

The crack caused by eruption stretches about one kilometer. Lava is moving to the southeast, not approach infrastructure.
