Trump has announced a 50% customs duty in the United States

US President Donald Trump has announced the definition of 50% customs duties on copper imports on Wednesday on Wednesday.

"After the thorough assessment of our national security, I announce the definition of 50% customs duties on copper, which will come into force on August 1 2025," Trump said. He noted that copper is needed in the United States to share semiconductors, aircraft, ships, ammunition, batteries, radar systems, missile protection systems, and food weapons and data centers.

"Copper is the second most used material by the Ministry of Defense," he said. At the same time, he said that the definition of the customs duty on copper imports will direct the mistakes made by the previous American administration of the President Joe Biden, accusing him of "reckless behavior and stupidity."
