Why did the Armenian figure living in Russia visit the Russian Parliament? "Fact"

"Fact" daily writes:

The current authorities of Armenia are consistently pursuing an anti-Russian policy, continuously spoiling the relations with the strategic ally, which, according to many experts and politicians, can lead to serious consequences. Against this background, a remarkable meeting took place in the Russian Federation.

Grigori Karasin, head of the International Affairs Committee of the Federal Council, received Mher Avetisyan, head of the "My Country, My Armenia" socio-political movement. Karasin particularly emphasized that Armenia and Russia are currently "going through a difficult and responsible historical stage together". In his words, the two countries should develop economic, cultural and international ties.

"Social movements have a significant place in that matter. Russian parliamentarians are ready to contribute to such work," said Karasin. Contrary to the anti-Russian sentiments of the Armenian authorities, Mher Avetisyan noted that the Armenian people traditionally maintain friendly relations with Russia.

"Russia is a guarantor of peace and preservation of traditional values," Avetisyan said. By the way, it is noteworthy that although the visiting party is not an official, but a public-politician, the meeting was covered on the official website of the Federal Council.
