Lawyer Roman Yeritsyan warns:
"Armen Mnatsakanyan, who is accused of preparing to usurp power, has been held illegally and alone in the quarantine department of the "ARMAVIR" penitentiary institution of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs for exactly one month.
The penitentiary was warned a month ago that Armen Mnatsakanyan held a high officer position in the military service and had a corresponding military rank. Furthermore, the official clarification issued by the RA Ministry of Defense regarding the positions held by Mnatsakanyan was also presented. Ignoring the above, Armen Mnatsakanyan was not only not transferred to the "Vardashen" penitentiary, but he was kept in the quarantine department of the penal institution for at least 23 days. I just remind you that by virtue of Article 29 of the RA Law "On Detaining Arrested and Detained Persons", a person can be kept in the above-mentioned department for a maximum of 7 days, and that only for the purpose of undergoing a medical examination and getting acquainted with the conditions of the place of detention of detainees.
At the same time, I would like to inform you that it has been 3 days since I informed the staff of the RA Human Rights Defender about this in written and verbal ways, while, apart from expressing concern, no results have been recorded so far," the lawyer noted.
