The CC sent the application regarding the constitutionality of Gerasim Vardanyan's detention to the Venice Commission

Gerasim Vardanyan's lawyer Sose Chandoyan wrote: "For more than 4 months, Gerasim Vardanyan, a member of the Supreme Body of the ARF of Armenia, has been detained, the reason known to all of us is Article 236 of the RA Criminal Code, which is used as a tool by the authorities to silence the opposition, and the RA NA MPs related to the issue of constitutionality in part 2 of it they appealed to the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Armenia.

Studying the submitted application and best understanding the fact that the article is unconstitutional, the Constitutional Court avoided expressing a clear position by turning to the Venice Commission to get an advisory opinion on the said issue.

It is obvious that the RA CC, having minimal legal grounds, would declare part 2 of Article 236 of the RA Criminal Code as not contradicting the constitution, abstaining from the function of knocking on the doors of various structures and gathering opinions.

I wonder what the courts and public prosecutors think, with their direct participation and light hand, Gerasim Vardanyan has been under arrest for more than 4 months under an article whose constitutionality has not even been confirmed by the Supreme Court.

This is another strong proof that Gerasim Vardanyan is currently being accused and detained on illegal and fabricated charges.

P.S. Once again, we record that for 4 years, Gerasim and his friends have been subjected to political persecution in order to silence them and remove them from the political path.
