June 1 is International Children's Day.

The decision to hold a Children's Day was made in 1949. By the Women's Democratic International Alliance. The holiday was first celebrated in 1950, and then it is mentioned every year.

The origin of the International Children's Day has begun since 1925, when representatives of different countries gathered in the Swiss city of Geneva for the World Welfare Conference.

After this conference, a number of governments in the world appointed one day as a Children's Day to highlight children's problems. During the post-war years, taking care of the health and well-being of the world's children was very important.

During the war, many of them lost their relatives and left orphaned. In 1949, the representatives of the women's conference in Paris called on all people to fight for peace.

Armenia ratified the Convention on Children's Rights in 1990, in 1996 the RA Law on the Rights of the Child was adopted.

The holiday is traditionally celebrated in all regions of the republic and in Yerevan, various events are organized that day.
