“The states of Europe, especially those that still supply [Israel] with weapons used against the Palestinian people in Gaza, must take a clear decision obliging the [Israeli] authorities to stop killing residents of the enclave, and take measures to hold [Israel’s] leaders accountable for starting this war,” says the movement’s special statement published on its Telegram channel. According to the radicals, the final document of the meeting in Brussels contains calls for the opening of checkpoints on the Gaza border, the delivery of humanitarian aid to the population of the enclave and a ceasefire in the sector "demand concrete steps and actions aimed at forcing the Israeli side to stop hostilities and comply with the decisions taken by the international community."
The situation in the Middle East sharply worsened after the infiltration of armed supporters of the Palestinian radical movement Hamas from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory on October 7, 2023, accompanied by the killing of residents of border settlements and the taking of more than 240 hostages.
In response, Israel launched a military operation in the enclave with the aim of destroying the military and political structure of Hamas and releasing all those abducted. Fighting in the Gaza Strip continues to this day.
