Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan hopes that the talks between Russian and Ukrainian delegations in Istanbul will be the basis for a comprehensive ceasefire and a peaceful settlement of the conflict. He stated this at Budapest at the sitting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the member states of the Turkish states (OTG).

The current meeting is preceded by the informal summit of the GTC. Turkey is represented by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

"We hope that the talks in Istanbul will leave the way for a comprehensive ceasefire and for fair and stable peace in the future," Fidan said. His speech broadcast TRT Haber TV channel.

Negotiations between Russia and Ukraine took place in Istanbul on May 16. As a result, Moscow and Kiev have agreed to exchange captarians with a resolution "1000 for 1000", to present their vision of a possible future ceasefire, and to continue the negotiation process.
