In the first round of the presidential election in Poland, the voter turnout reached a record 67.31%, the State Electoral Commission reported.
"In the first round of voting, participation was 67.31%," the official website of the election commission said.
According to Polish television, this is the highest rate since 1989. In the first stage of the presidential election in 1990, 60.63% of the eligible voters voted.
In 1995, the participation was 64.70, and in 2000 - 61.12. The next two stages of the first round of the presidential election took a much lower turnout, in 2005 the participation was only 49.74%, and 5 years later, 54.94%. In 2020, the participation was 64.51%.
