Estonia plans to strengthen its presence on Russia's border, establishing a military base in Narva. This was stated by the Chief of the General Staff of the Estonian Armed Forces, Major General Vakhnar Karus.
"It is planned to deploy units on a permanent basis in Narva to resolve the daily presence of servicemen in the city," said Karus. He also added that the rotation of different subdivisions will be carried out at the base, and in the initial stage is about the deployment of 200-250 soldiers.
This decision is part of Estonia's efforts to strengthen its defense capabilities against the background of current international tensions. Located in the immediate vicinity of the Russian border, Narevan received strategic importance in ensuring the country's security.
