"Tomorrow, April 24, it expires the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey. Today, when we bow to the memory of those who fall asleep, we must speak not only about the past but also about the present. The mass emigration of the Armenian population from Nagorno Karabakh in 2023 is not only a geopolitical circumstance. This is a continuation of the tragedy, which is hidden in our century with suspicious excuses and betrayal of others. We note for centuries to steal today's misfortunes, history, religious and cultural monuments, and "Shemakin's trial" towards prisoners. This cannot be indifferent to our conscience.
These days, it is especially difficult to monitor how the grounds of national self-consciousness are disrupted in Armenia, under pressure in Armenia, under pressure from foreign and domestic forces.
We see how the Armenian Apostolic Church is attacked, how historical memory is violated, how are connections with those who have been allies and friends for centuries, "Zatulin said in his statement.
Summing up his speech, the State Duma MP, whose access to Armenia is prohibited, said that it is not independent of everything, they are not indifferent in Russia, they remember.
"We mourn with the Armenian people. We will continue to talk about the truth and fight for him so that the tragedies of the past are not repeated either in the present or in the future.
On the eve of the 80th anniversary of the victory, Russia was adopted by the Law on Eternalizing the victims of the Genocide of the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. Let the memory of the victims of all the genocides become not only a tribute, but also a lesson. Let all those who believe in justice who do not share their peoples with geography and interests who share their pain and hope, "said Zatulin.
