The ceremony of approving the death of Pope Francis took place in the Vatican, his body was laid in the coffin, the head of the Holy See Matseo Bruni told reporters.
Earlier, the Vatican reported that Cardinal Camerlengo Kevin Farrell would lead the ceremony on Monday evening to establish a pontiff's death in the coffin.
"The ritual of setting death and body in the coffin lasted about an hour," said Bruni. The Pope's body is currently in the chapel on the first floor of Santa Martian house, he added the Head of the Vatican Press Service. Earlier, he told reporters that his grandfather died in the same apartment in the Holy Peter Temple of the Vatican, who served as a pontiff.
