Japanese Defense Minister Genn Nakatani said that he did not see any reason to make any changes to the US military agreement on the distribution of US military bases, and that the issue of funding should be discussed separately from the issue of duties.
The Minister reminded that the current agreement includes the period from 2022 to 2026, which will end on March 31 2027.
"Costs are properly distributed on the basis of the current agreement. Until the end of the next fiscal year, the costs are already covered. The agreement is still in force, so we do not see any change in this stage, "he said.
