The Association of Southeast Asian countries will not take any responses, in response to US customs duties, the Ministers of Economy of the Regional Group stated in the joint statement after the meeting in Malaysia.
The group of 10 countries stressed its commitment to the "sincere and constructive dialogue" with Washington to solve trade problems in the conditions of uncertainty.
"We express our general intention to a sincere and constructive dialogue with the United States to solve commercial problems. Open communication and cooperation will be important to ensure balanced and stable relations. In this spirit, Asian undertakes to do not use any response, in response to US customs duties, "the statement said.
The special session of the Asian Economic Ministers was chaired by Malaysian's investment, trade and industry Tengku Zaphrul Aziz.
ASEAN also expressed its support for the World Trade Organization as a basic platform for dialogue, emphasizing its role in preventing the escalation of commercial tensions and promoting collaborative rules.
