China calls on the United States to respect mutual interests and resolve trade and economic disagreements through dialogue and consultations. This is stated in the document published by the Press Office of the State Council of the People's Republic of China ("White Tap") on issues related to bilateral trade and economic relations with Washington.
"The key to solving the problem is to be respected by each other's main interests and concerns, finding the right solution through dialogue and consultations," the document reads.
The Chinese State Council's press office also noted that "countries for China and the United States, as different economic systems, have different differences in trade and economic cooperation."
At the same time, the document expresses hope that Beijing and Washington will "move to each other, will follow the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and beneficial cooperation."
On April 2, US President Donald Trump announced the setting customs duties for 185 countries and territories. The total tariffs of 10% came into force on April 5, and individual tariffs have been operating since April 9.
