Estonian President Alar Karis has confirmed the law of amendments to the Constitution, according to which foreign nationals will be deprived of the right to elections, reports the statement of the head of state.
Earlier, Postimees reported that the Estonian parliament has adopted a change in the Constitution, which will deprive the citizens of third countries, including Russia and Belarus.
It is noted that 93 deputies voted in favor of the changes, and seven parliamentarians were against members of the center faction.
"The decision that only Estonian and EU citizens will be able to vote in the local elections is undoubtedly legal. It is just as important that those who are left without the right to choose not to think that the state wants to remove them from public life or views security, "said Karis.
