On March 7, US President Donald Trump stated that he had sent a message to the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei with a proposal to negotiate over the nuclear program. Tehran refused a direct dialogue with Washington, but allowed the talks to continue through mediators.
On March 30, the US leader stated that additional customs duties will define additional customs duties towards Iran if negotiations on the nuclear program do not yield results. He also threatened the Islamic Republic in case of full refusal of transaction with unprecedented bombings. In response, Khamenei noted that he did not believe in the possibility of a US military invasion, but warned that Washington's experience in provoking riots in Iran will be decisively counterattacked.
