In March, CNN reported that the Pentagon is studying the possibility of significant reduction of the US Higher Command, as well as the merging of the US Army and the northern US command in one command.

This step testifies to the Pentagon's growth of budget problems and the struggle against the military strategy and the fight against terrorism, "the portal website said.
It is noted that different options are being discussed, starting with reduction of 420,000 troops by reducing the staff to 360 thousand. At the same time, the US Army currently has about 450,000 soldiers.
