The International Group of Astronomers of Germany, Finland and other countries has refreshed its risk of a plot of asteroids with the country and the moon. The study was published in Research Notes of the Aas (RNAAS).
The analysis is based on the results of 2024 YR4 asteroid observations, which has caused concern to the possible risk of falling on our planet. Using 2.5-meter notes in the Canary Islands, experts have been able to accurately calculate the trajectory and settings of the space object.
Infrared observations via James Web Space Telescope have helped to determine the size of the asteroids more accurately, 46-74 meters. Monitoring will continue until May 2025, after which YR4 will become imperceptible until 2028.
Size decision will help astronomers assess the possible consequences of collision with the moon.
Despite the reduced risk, land and space observatory will continue to monitor YR4 in April 2025, after which the country will be inconspicuous in 2028.
