The Russian Foreign Ministry expressed a “strong protest” to Japan over the upcoming exercises with the participation of the US Navy, which will take place in “close proximity” to the borders of the Russian Federation. The Foreign Ministry threatened Tokyo with “inevitable countermeasures” aimed at “strengthening the defense capability and protecting the sovereignty” of Russia.
The Foreign Ministry emphasized that the practice of participation of “non-regional NATO member states” is becoming increasingly widespread, which is categorically unacceptable for Moscow.
