Protest demanding the immediate release of Armenian prisoners of war and hostages illegally held in Azerbaijan (video)

A group of citizens are protesting in front of the UN Armenian office, demanding the immediate release of Armenian prisoners of war and hostages illegally held in Azerbaijan.

Artsakh HRD Gegham Stepanyan, the initiator of the action, announced that in anticipation of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP29) to be held in Azerbaijan in November 2024, actions were launched in different countries of the world and they also joined it.

"We notice that as the day of the conference approaches, there is a certain activity in the international field regarding this issue. It is planned to hold a discussion on these topics in the Council of Ministers," said Stepanyan and noted that these days, when the world is focused on Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan should be forced to comply with international provisions of human rights.

"The demand should be presented in order to overcome as much pressure as possible," he said.

It was reported that they plan to carry out actions not only in front of the UN Armenian office, but also in front of the RA Foreign Ministry, the embassies of the Russian Federation, the French Republic and the United States of America in RA, during which letters with the same request will be delivered to the addressees.

It should be noted that the initiative was joined by retired human rights defenders Yuri Hayrapetyan, Ruben Melikyan, Artak Beglaryan, as well as Larisa Alaverdyan. Referring to Armenia's possible participation in COP29, Gegham Stepanyan claimed that having prisoners and unspecified fates, missing persons, going and participating would be simply unacceptable.
